Join us on September 14th, 2024 for a one-day Conn Selmer Institute regional event on the campus of Olathe Northwest High School, in Olathe, KS. We are excited to offer an enriching day of professional development for music educators and college students featuring engaging sessions by our world-class Conn Selmer clinicians. Sessions are applicable to all band and orchestra directors at elementary, middle, and high school levels. Check out the incredible session offerings in the schedule below. Student Leadership Workshop
Students are invited to join Dr. Tim at the Student Leadership Workshop September 14th, as a part of Conn Selmer Institute Central. The event will take place at Olathe Northwest High School in Olathe, KS from 9:00 - 11:30 AM. Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser will provide students with practical experiences, inspired motivation, and the heart of a servant leader.
The workshop, tailored primarily for 11th and 12th graders, seeks proactive role models with a positive attitude. We aim to delve deeper, requiring full commitment from participants right from the start. This approach allows the curriculum to provide more engaging, hands-on experiences, particularly with a smaller, select group of student leaders. Our goal is not to persuade individuals to become leaders but to provide intensive training for those who have already chosen this path. Does this sound like the kind of workshop that appeals to your student leaders? We are ready to welcome them!
Directors play a vital role in selecting candidates, focusing on those truly prepared for the task. It's essential that students chosen exhibit personal maturity and a genuine desire to serve others as the foundation of their leadership spirit.
Conn Selmer Institute is thrilled to offer a FREE Parent Booster Workshop featuring Dr. David Vandewalker on September 14th as well. Dr. Vandewalker, veteran educator, fine arts administrator, and author of Boosters to the Rescue, has successfully empowered school parent organizations nationwide for years. Held at Olathe Northwest High School from 9 AM - 11:30 AM on September 14th, 2024, this unique workshop is FREE to all parent boosters!
All parents attending will need to register. While your registration is FREE, we do need to keep track of who will join us that morning.

Airports
Travelers flying to the event should plan to fly into the Kansas City International Airport, located only 40 minutes from Olathe Northwest High School. Please be aware that the airport is located in the Missouri side of Kansas City, so please do not be alarmed that you might have travelled to the wrong destination.
Hotels
There are many hotel choices in the area, listed on the Olathe Convention & Visitors Bureau website.
